AERIS: a journey of innovation and international achievements

From industrial air treatment to applied research: a story of technical expertise, energy efficiency and international validation.

In the field of industrial air treatment, innovation means developing solutions capable of meeting increasingly complex production requirements: air quality, thermo-hygrometric control, operational continuity, energy efficiency and process sustainability.

These are the principles behind the journey of AERIS S.R.L., an Italian company specialised in the design and manufacture of industrial air treatment systems. AERIS solutions include systems for filtration, extraction, ventilation, air conditioning, humidification, evaporative cooling, energy recovery and controlled contamination environments.

Over the years, the company has consolidated a technical approach focused on the manufacturing industry, supporting businesses in the management of process environmental conditions and in the development of integrated systems designed around specific production requirements.

A journey built on industrial experience

The origins of the business date back to 2007, with the start of a specialised path in air treatment for industrial applications.

A significant milestone was the acquisition of the MazziniICI brand, a historic Italian name in the field of aerotextile systems and air treatment for the textile industry. This integration helped strengthen the company’s technical know-how in a sector where the control of air, fibres and thermo-hygrometric conditions is essential for process stability and product quality.

In 2012, AERIS S.R.L. was established with the aim of developing plant engineering solutions dedicated to industrial air treatment and consolidating application expertise gained across different manufacturing sectors.

Since then, the company’s development has been marked by increasing specialisation in technologies for industrial filtration, environmental control, humidification, evaporative cooling and energy recovery.

Industrial air treatment for more controlled production processes

AERIS operates in production environments where air quality and the stability of environmental conditions have a direct impact on process efficiency, product quality and operational continuity.

The solutions developed by the company are used in several manufacturing sectors, including textiles, nonwovens, milling, pet food, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, rubber and plastics, metalworking, mechanical engineering, marine applications and composite materials.

The design approach starts from a detailed analysis of the specific requirements of each production facility: type of process, characteristics of airborne pollutants, air flow rates, production layout, thermo-hygrometric requirements, energy consumption and efficiency targets.

This analysis forms the basis for tailor-made systems for air filtration, industrial extraction, ventilation, air conditioning, humidification, evaporative cooling and energy recovery.

IHS®: when innovation starts from a real industrial need

One of the most representative projects in AERIS’ applied research journey is IHS® – Induction Humidification System, a technology developed for industrial humidification in applications requiring a high level of thermo-hygrometric control.

The project was created with a clear objective: to improve the efficiency of industrial humidification systems by reducing energy and water consumption in production processes that require accurate control of environmental conditions.

The development activities included fluid-dynamic modelling and simulation studies aimed at optimising humidity distribution and improving system performance in industrial environments.

IHS® is a concrete example of how AERIS interprets innovation: not as a theoretical exercise, but as a technical response to a real industrial challenge, with the objective of improving efficiency, process control and sustainability.

European projects and international validation

The value of the IHS® project has also been acknowledged at European and international level.

In 2017, the project received the Seal of Excellence from the European Commission within the Horizon 2020 programme, a distinction awarded to project proposals positively evaluated for quality, impact and level of innovation.

In 2018, IHS® was subsequently funded through the SME Instrument of the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme, under Grant Agreement no. 811349.

The technology was also included in the Solar Impulse Foundation’s Solutions Explorer, an international initiative dedicated to selecting and promoting technological solutions focused on environmental sustainability.

The project and the broader innovation journey have also received attention from specialist publications and media outlets, including the European Dissemination Media Agency, Il Sole 24 Ore, Corriere della Sera, ANSA and L’Eco di Bergamo.

These achievements confirm the value of an applied research path focused on reducing consumption, improving energy efficiency and enhancing environmental conditions in industrial processes.

Technical expertise and dialogue with industrial supply chains

AERIS’ growth is also supported by ongoing dialogue with specialised industrial supply chains and technical associations.

The company is a member of ACIMIT, the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers, and a supporting member of ANTIM, the Italian National Association of Milling Industry Technicians.

Participation in these organisations enables AERIS to maintain continuous dialogue with highly technical production sectors and to develop solutions aligned with the real needs of industrial plants.

A journey looking towards the industry of the future

Today, AERIS continues to support Italian and international companies in the development of integrated solutions for industrial air treatment.

From filtration to humidification, from evaporative cooling to energy recovery, the objective is to contribute to the creation of more efficient, controlled and sustainable production environments.

The history of AERIS is a journey built on technical experience, applied research and attention to the needs of contemporary industry: a journey that continues to evolve alongside the energy, environmental and production challenges of the manufacturing sector.
