HEAT RECOVERY SYSTEM HRS

energy efficiency in industrial processes

HEAT RECOVERY SYSTEM HRS

The HRS heat recovery system (Heat Recovery System) is an advanced technology designed to improve energy efficiency in industrial processes, reduce operating costs, and support environmental sustainability.

Available in air-to-water and air-to-air configurations, the HRS system recovers thermal energy from high-temperature exhaust air streams and reuses it to preheat process air or supply other production processes.
This solution is particularly suitable for energy-intensive industrial applications.

HEAT RECOVERY SYSTEMS – AIR/AIR CONFIGURATION

The HRS A2A heat recovery system enables the transfer of thermal energy from high-temperature exhaust air to a secondary air stream, typically at ambient temperature, which is preheated and reintroduced into the process.
Constructed in stainless steel and equipped with fully removable shell-and-tube heat exchanger coils, the system is compatible with any production line and can also be installed in retrofit applications.
The HRS A2A cross-flow heat recovery unit ensures efficient thermal transfer between hot exhaust air and incoming fresh air. Heat is transferred through convection and conduction, while keeping the two air streams completely separate, ensuring high efficiency without any risk of cross-contamination.

HEAT RECOVERY SYSTEMS – AIR/WATER CONFIGURATION

The air/water system is designed to transfer thermal energy from exhaust air to a closed water circuit, with the purpose of heating process water for reuse in applications such as washing systems, preheating, or industrial climate control.
Constructed in stainless steel and available in modular, custom-engineered configurations based on airflow and temperature requirements, the system is compatible with any production line and can also be installed in retrofit applications.

FAQ

What is the HRS® Heat Recovery System and how does it help reduce energy consumption?

The HRS® (Heat Recovery System) is an advanced energy recovery solution designed to capture thermal energy from industrial exhaust air streams and reuse it within the production process.
Instead of releasing valuable heat into the atmosphere, the HRS® transfers the recovered energy to preheat incoming fresh air or process water, significantly reducing the demand for fossil fuels and electrical energy required for heating.
By recovering energy that would otherwise be wasted, the system improves overall plant efficiency while lowering operating costs and reducing CO₂ emissions.

The HRS® system is particularly effective in manufacturing facilities characterized by high thermal loads, elevated process temperatures and continuous production cycles. Its primary applications include the textile and nonwoven industries, where drying, curing and thermofixation processes generate large quantities of recoverable thermal energy. The system is also widely used in the plastics, packaging, pet food, paper, chemical and other process industries where heat recovery can significantly improve energy efficiency.

Thanks to its high heat recovery efficiency and the increasing cost of energy, the HRS® system typically delivers a rapid return on investment. Depending on the production process, operating temperatures and annual operating hours, the investment is generally recovered within 12 to 24 months.
After the payback period, the recovered energy becomes a continuous source of operating cost savings throughout the life of the installation.

Industrial exhaust air—particularly in textile manufacturing—often contains dust, fibres, lint or oil mist that can reduce the performance of conventional heat exchangers. The AERIS HRS® has been specifically engineered with optimized internal airflow passages to minimize fouling while maintaining high heat transfer efficiency.
Depending on the application, the system may also incorporate multi-stage filtration, automatic cleaning systems or washable heat exchanger configurations, ensuring consistent thermal performance while reducing maintenance requirements.

Yes. The HRS® Heat Recovery System has been designed for seamless integration into both new installations and retrofit projects involving existing Air Handling Units (AHUs) or industrial ventilation systems. The system is equipped with temperature, airflow and energy monitoring sensors that communicate via Modbus with the customer’s Building Management System (BMS), SCADA or Energy Management System (EMS).
This enables real-time monitoring of recovered thermal energy, system performance, energy savings and the associated reduction in operating costs and CO₂ emissions.
